Description

Sedimentary Memory is a compelling abstract study in texture, stratification, and color-field tension. The composition is built upon two dominant, stacked planes that evoke a sense of geological or emotional time.

The upper register features a pale, weathered field of chalky alabaster and muted ochre, heavily worked with expressive impasto and score marks that suggest an accumulated history. Breaking through this veiled surface is a central, fractured scar of deep magenta—a sudden burst of raw, unburied energy.

In sharp contrast, the lower third of the canvas is anchored by a dense, saturated block of vibrant crimson and deep rose. This bold geometric foundation feels both heavy and resonant, compressed under the weight of the pale layers above it. Through a masterful use of the palette knife, scraping, and gestural scarring, the artwork functions as a visual excavation, capturing the way time buries, preserves, and occasionally reveals the fragments of the past.
